knitstallation. . . .

The young knitters at school recently exhibited the pieces they have worked on since September. The Grade 2 children learned to knit in the fall, then became mentors to the older children, as they joined throughout the year. We gathered twice a week to eat lunch together, share stories, knit, and laugh out loud, a lot! These children are a delight, and they love, love, love to knit! Our Fine Arts Program showcases student art work each Spring and this year, our yarn-bombed branches welcomed visitors to our school gallery. Each knitter wrote from the heart about their knitting lives.  The freedom to explore this medium without deadlines, shaping, fit, or complicated stitch details has fostered a community spirited group of knitters who share, work hard, and take delight in colour, and form.  We’ll see where that foundation takes us next year . . . .
