Although I frequently knit from patterns, I can rarely get beyond a few centimetres before my mind wanders, and I am altering them significantly.  This is not a reflection on the designer’s work.  On the contrary, a good designer inspires our creative spirit; opens the door to the process, and all the pathways that lead us to a successful garment that fits well, and looks great.  Kate Davies is one of these!  She has recently been busy designing a beautiful new life, post stroke, blogging about her amazing progress here. Her Paper Dolls Design inspired three of us to work through a pullover while she was recovering in the hospital. But true to form, I got to playing, and have ended up with this beautiful sweater

incorporating an Ann Feitelson Scalloway yoke into the Paper Dolls basic plan.  I have the kind of shoulders that need a graduated yoke, and this design was more suited to my shape.  I prefer a 2 x 2 corrugated rib and the Scalloway pattern allowed me to tie the rib colour into the yoke, adding other colours that I had available.  It fits beautifully!  The blocking allowed the Harrisville Shetland yarn purchased here, to bloom and settle.  The Plum Frost Cardigan is next, plus a six week class to go with it!
